When he was a young mortal, his dedication to his craft and his studies were known throughout the Middle Kingdom, making him quite famous among both Kindred and kine alike. As he was mortal at the time he did not know of the caste of the Watchers - the Wu Zao - who had taken an interest in him. They often embraced and trained spectacular individuals in their fields, scholars, doctors, even thieves who could acquire vast amounts of knowledge. He soon found himself under the tutelage of the man who would later become his sire. This benefactor gave him access to a wealth of information, a library so large he could have never accessed a trove on his own. But it came at a cost. He was embraced, given undeath and the curse of obsession with arcane study. His already insane quest for knowledge was now fueled by the very blood flowing through him.
Even then, it came with a steeper price. The pursuit of knowledge was always towards something greater: Golconda. Peace within, truly conquering the Beast, and ultimate attainment of final knowledge. Now with two goals - both the field of study he so craved in life and the eternal life to do it as well as the goal of attaining complete inner peace - Xiaojun wanders the land in search of relics, scrolls, knowledge, and enlightment.
